National Merit

  • You will be considered for a scholarship upon admission to UCF if you are named a National Merit Semifinalist. If you advance to become a National Merit Finalist and designate UCF as your “first-choice” with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation by the May 31 deadline, you will be considered for an increased award from UCF.
  • Eligible scholars will receive an award equal to the institutional cost of attendance for an in-state student minus the sum of Bright Futures and the National Merit award. Out-of-state students will receive an award equal to the in-state cost of attendance minus their National Merit award. These students are exempt from paying out-of-state tuition and fees. 
  • Florida residents who advance to become National Merit Finalists will be awarded the Benacquisto Scholarship in addition to the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship.
  • Out-of-state National Merit Finalists are eligible for our competitive National Merit Scholarship package valued at more than $25,000 per year for four years.
  • As a National Merit Finalist, you can apply for special privileges at UCF, including:
    • Guaranteed admission to The Burnett Honors College
    • Guaranteed admission to the LEAD Scholars Academy

Additional Scholarship Opportunities

  • University of Central Florida offers a variety of merit-based scholarships to incoming FTIC (first-time-in-college) students that are distributed over four years and range from:
    • $4,000 to $30,000 for Florida residents
    • $30,000 to $42,000 for non-Florida residents
