  • Non-residents receive a slightly higher award of $16,500 per year, totaling $66,000 over four years.
  • Both awards require enrollment in Barrett, The Honors College, and selection of ASU as the first choice with the National Merit Corporation by May 1.
  • These scholarships replace any previous New American University merit scholarships and are not stackable with other awards.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities

  • Arizona State University awards merit scholarships, called New American University scholarships, to incoming first-year students with outstanding academic abilities.
  • Students are automatically considered for this award when they are admitted to ASU. No separate application is required, but all admission application materials (admission application, official transcripts, test scores, and application fee) must be on file with the ASU Undergraduate Admissions Office to be considered for this award.
  • Students awarded an ASU merit-based scholarship will receive a scholarship notification letter two to three weeks after they receive their notification of admission.
